Meet your Guide.

Sipho Matlaila is the Director of New Dawn Explorers. He is a highly qualified, professional and enthusiastic guide with a passion for nature and 25 years of experience in the tourism industry. He has studied nature conservation at the university level and has a range of certifications relevant for guiding. These include field guide certificate (FGASA 2), bush walk in big five area (trails guide 2), view potentially dangerous animals on foot certificate (VPDS), snake handling and more. Since 2000 he has worked as a head trails guide in the Kruger National Park; as head ranger/guide in Pilanesberg National Park; as a teacher on guiding in Bushmaster nature guiding academy and as an overland guide with Drifters. Sipho has travelled extensively throughout South Africa as well as in neighbouring countries (Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Zambia, Lesotho and Eswatini) with small and larger groups of travellers.

Sipho has extensive knowledge and experience with nature, biodiversity and South African culture and is excited to share this with fellow explorers looking for adventure in South Africa.
